Hall of Fame: Call for Nominations

Many individual and collective efforts have been made to the development and advancement of aviation and aerospace in the State of Nevada. Nevada Aerospace Hall of Fame preserves the memory and legacy of outstanding contributions.

Each year, the Hall of Fame Selection Board selects individuals and/or organizations that made extraordinary contributions to the aviation and aerospace in the State of Nevada for induction into the Nevada Aerospace Hall of Fame. Inductees’ names and achievements will be maintained in the Nevada Historical Society as well as Nevada Aerospace Hall of Fame.

Hall of Fame Selection Board chooses inductees from nomination. The nominee’s achievement or contribution to aviation and aerospace may be state-, national-, or world-level. The nominee must be either a native Nevadan or have performed a significant portion of his/her aviation-related work in Nevada. Residency in Nevada is not a prerequisite for selection if the special security measures required the nominee to commute to Nevada from another state in secrecy to perform his/her job.

A nomination may be made by any firm, organization, or individual who is familiar with the nominee’s contribution and achievement. Nominees who were not chosen for induction may be reconsidered for the following year’s induction. Re-nomination can be made in any year.

A nomination packet must include the following materials.

  1. Nomination Forms A & B
  2. A statement for nomination that indicates a) the nominee’s contribution, achievement, and/or service in aviation and aerospace in Nevada, and b) the nominee’s biography. The statement should be no longer than three, double-spaced pages.
  3. Biographical resume of the nominee. (Include dates and unit(s) of military service, dates and name of employment at an airline company, business owned, etc., if applicable.)
  4. Photograph(s) of the nominee. (Photographs will be returned. Scanned digital copies of original photographs are also accepted.)
  5. Optional supplemental materials (ex. Newspaper clippings, logbook entries, awards, additional recommendation letters).

Three copies of a nomination packet must be submitted to Robert Friedrichs at robert.friedrichs@nvahof.org. The deadline is April 15 each year. No nomination shall be considered unless the nomination packet meets the requirements specified above.

Tips for Nomination

Make your statement for nomination as detailed as possible. The Hall of Fame Selection Board may not be familiar with your nominee.

Some of the selection criteria are:

  3. Which area(s) of Nevada does the nominee represent?
  4. Was the nominee a Nevada native who drew public attention to Nevada even though he/she did not spend a significant portion of his/her career in Nevada? Or was the nominee from another state but spent a significant portion of his/her career in Nevada?
  5. What makes the nominee unique from his/her contemporaries?
  6. What aspect of aviation/aerospace does the nominee represent? (ex. fixed base operator, military, commercial airline, government/legislation, education, building /restoration, air racing, safety)
